| Excerpt from DIRTY LAUNDRY |
 |
Ahead of us was the Music Center, which Justin Park
had said was near his sister's condominium. Built in the
sixties, the County-owned complex had become the sina qua
non for "serious" music, theater, and dance. But the center
had been branching out, too. I'd heard though the grapevine
that they'd scheduled a one-woman play that recreated the
experience of dozens of L.A. riot victims and participants,
including former Chief Darryl Gates. I wondered if the playwright
had interviewed the Park family about the loss of their
son.
